..and so to sleep, per chance to dream.

Where Do You Journey In Your Dreams?

October 12th 2006 06:27
One of the most powerful and common dream sequences of our nocturnal dreamscape, are those that involve travel and journeys. It seems we all pack up and head off somewhere, catching planes, trains and automobiles. It sounds almost as busy as our waking world, doesn't it?

The truth is, that travel dreams, not only act as a canvas for us to reflect and develop the practical sense of our everyday lives (spatial), but also as a means of discerning who we are in the real world (spiritual).

The obstacles we encounter on our travel dreams are a direct reflection of what we need to overcome in our waking moments, as is the means by which we travel. When understood properly travel dreams can present some of the most profound insights into our psychological selves, as well.

Unlike other dream themes, the symbols and objects in travel dreams are usually very graphic - almost lucid - offering us unique opportunities to work out what is holding us back, or alternatively, what it is we need to look at (or work on) in order to move forward.

Once again, I welcome the challenge of helping you to decode your most recent travel dreams. Perhaps I can help point out a signpost you may have missed along the way.

Not to appear too fickle, but I have to go away for a couple of days.

A reality travel if you will, but I look forward to interpreting any of your nocturnal travel dreams comments when I get back - early next week.

Happy dreaming,
L.

I thought I'd share one of my recurrent frequent flyer dreams. If there's enough interest, leave me a 'note-of-interest' here and I'll publish my findings.

I have to catch a plane and I'm always trying to pack my bags at the last minute. I have way too much stuff to fit in and after what feels like, many hours of packing, arranging and storing, I grab the cab, coach, horse, buggy, broomstick - whatever is available within that particular dream, and head for the airport.

The airports have been interesting too, but always add to the delay in some way. The escalator doesn't work, the bag bursts open or my bloomin' ticket is the wrong type?

In real life I have travelled extensively, but in my dreams I have yet to make the plane!

That last comment had a ring to it, I think I have already revealed too much, hmmm, that darn Freud.

I'll have fun reading my notes on this one.

Lilla.
