..and so to sleep, per chance to dream.

Dreams About Sex..

February 9th 2007 06:30

We all have them. Those sexy dreams of strangers and ex-boyfriends, who sweep us off our feet... But then it gets weird and suddenly we’re having sex with someone whom we don’t know, or the bank Manager is sucking your toes! Oops, Pardon… that’s a little weird?

But what about an average day, which ends in one of those magical dreams of sexual encounters, where the experience is beautiful... The ones that make you want to switch the alarm off and go back to sleep. The one where the enigmatic kiss is so pure, that it makes you fly … You remember, the kiss you explored last night, with a friend you hardly think of during the waking hours?

um aah...

What about the strange dream where you're flying with someone, eventually exploring your own sexuality, with a stranger you have never met?

It may well be called, Sexual Healing in the waking dimension, but I want to talk about Sexual Dreaming… does it have relevance?

Dream guru, P Ball, sums up sexual dreams by saying if your sex life is balanced, you shouldn't be having sexual dreams at all. Here's what she says;

“Dreams highlight the whole range of the individual’s sexuality. Only if the dreamer ignores their own sexual nature and fails to appreciate their own life force do the negative aspects make themselves obvious in dreams. This is a natural attempt to balance the waking state which may have been over-intellectualised, or over-dramatised. Contact with others then becomes necessary, and often this need will make itself apparent in dreams.”

Freud, of course had his own field day with sexual dreams and overtones, but again I’m aiming at a more balanced spiritual explanation, as well as the physical. So, for a more balanced peek into our erotic dreamscapes...

~oOo~

Bisexuality – something is out of whack and you need to look at your balance in the waking world.

Castration – fear of loss of masculinity and sexual power.

Clothes in Sexual Dreams – being fully clothed suggests some feelings of guilt. Note the clothing and colours.

Contraception – A fear of pregnancy or birth.

Ejaculations/Emission – The images in a dream prior to orgasm can suggest the nature of your attitude to sex and sexuality. Conflicts of sexuality in the waking world are often resolved with dreams of emission.

Hermaphrodite – suggests bi-sexuality, which is an erotic attraction to both sexes, or Androgyny – the perfect balance within one person of both masculine and feminine driving sexual energies.

Intercourse (or heavy petting) – This indicates a wish or need to be able to communicate with someone on a very intimate level.

If the intercourse is interrupted – the dreamer may have inhibitions of which he or she is not consciously aware. Sometimes dreams of intercourse signal that you are integrating a part of your own personality… if a child is born in the dream, the integration is complete.

Kiss – Can indicate a mark of respect or a desire to stimulate the dream partner. It also suggests that we should be aware of what arousal we ourselves need.

Masturbation – The child learns to comfort him or herself through masturbation, so dreaming of masturbation signals a need for comfort.

Perversion – We are avoiding or attempting to avoid issues to do with closeness and bonding.

Phallus – images signify everything that is creative, penetrative and masculine. It is about vitality and creativity in all its forms. It signifies resurrection and the renewal of life.

Semen – Dreams can often throw up images of primitive rites and practices which we have no conscious knowledge of. Semen is the other sign of masculinity and of physical maturity and is often seen in dreams as some other milky fluid – not as semen.

Sexuality (general) – a sense or feelings of desire for someone else – most often the opposite sex, but not confined to the opposite sex – is a basic and primal urge for closeness and union with that person. It is as though we are searching for a part of ourselves that we have lost. The sex object in the dream represents the closest we can get to that part.

If we were fully integrated human beings it is believed we would have no need for sex with someone else, but for most of us we have a desire to be united with everything which is not a part of our own ego.

Dreams of general desire and sexuality highlight feelings we are capable of having, whilst providing valuable information about our own needs.

Transvestism – signifies a confusion so far as gender is concerned in dreams.

Veneral (and other) Disease – signifies awareness of some kind of contamination. This may indicate a need, not of sexual nature but of emotional. Also a good idea to have a check up.

Sexual activity is either the highest expression of love and spirituality between two people or, if purely physically based, is entirely selfish. It is up to you the dreamer to understand which suits.

Note: Apology for the delay in creating new posts on this site, I thought that I was only getting paid for my domain blogg – but have recently learned that with Adsense this one will be paid for too. I love writing it, but not that much that I’d do it indefinitely, for free…

What about sexual preditors in dreams, or sexual attacks... uninvited sex, sex with multiple or unknown partners. Does that have a meaning separate and apart from what you've listed here, or does that fall under the "perversion" category?

Does the Anima/Animas theory apply here as well? Meaning, does the person with whom you're having sex in the dream reflect something specific? (For example, I'm not really dreaming of so and so, but of a similar energy within the self that needs acknowledged? An aspect or reflection of self needing faced?)

Don't rush to respond... I know things are topsy-tervsy for you right now, just curiosities spawned by your post.

Love the dream topics!

Hi Wendi,

No problems, I am about for about an hour today and just before getting dinner on... so good timing my friend.

You raise interesting points - honestly hadn't thought ahead that far, but the quick answer is no they are more diversified than just plain old perversity.

tell you what, I'll collect them together and do a second post on sexuality, but on the not so happy kind - any ideas on what I could call it, I'm totally brain dead honestly...

Thanks for understanding,
and your excellent suggestions,

Lilla ...

We do? I don't. Refer first line.

Sorry. I guess I'm free of all those problems and it seems I always have been.

Lilla,

It seems so, doesn't it?

I guess there are other areas in my life that need attention.

Hmm... I can see where a title for it would be difficult, indeed. Let me sip down a cup of French Vanilla coffee and mull it over for a bit. I just woke up, so the brain hasn't quite kicked all the way in yet. *LOL*

Sho sometimes dreams of clouded ninja ladies bending themselves into sexy, pretzel-oriented situations.

Hi Lilla

I love the picture and the info on sexual dreams. Very interesting...

I don't think I agree with Dream guru, P Ball's thoughts that if we are sexually satisfied then we won't have sexual dreams. To me it sounds like the view that if you love someone you never see another person as attractive. We have eyes and brains and we still use them even if we're in love and satisfied....we don't have to respond to all urges we have....(apart from eating chocolate, that's my downfall)...

Brilliant stuff,

Tracy

PS I wondering the same thing as Wendi....would love it if you do a second post!!

Hi Sho,

How lovely this image.

I don't know about sex, but I did have a dream about being a Ninja, many many years ago. It was one I remember because I actually died in it. But this is not dying, this is beautiful...

.. what is the relevance of this picture for you and sexuality?

Is that Bruce Lee in the background?

Sho in dreams dancers and dancing always represent freedom and symbolic actions necessary for survival. Dancing in dreams can represent getting closer to a partner. Spiritually dances in dreams are taken to represent the rythym of life - patterns that reflect creativity - psychologically strengthening emotions.

Transformations of space and time... Is there a partner whose rythym is out of sync with yours, or have you recently become closer... if you have desired it for some time ... it is now time.

Hi Tracey,

Thank you so much for your interesting words. I can see what you're saying and what you say, makes a lot of sense to me.

I have always admired beauty of nature where I see it, often in the male form, or of face, and never expect my husband to do less. *lol* men are just not as deescreeet when goggling, are they? )

However, having said that, I have noticed through journaling my dreams for many years, that it is mostly when, and if I am unsatisifed, that sexual dreams appear. So, there does seem to be a co-relation, although as you say, doesn't mean we have to act out on it. Too true.

Is there such a thing as the perfect lover, and perfect partner? It seems that throughout my life, when I have one, I don't have the other ... if I could have both in one ... well then ... I'd probably even give up the chocolate, hey? But I'm dreaming again ...

Wendi and Tracey,

I will do a second post, thank you for the encouragement. This morning I woke with a title on my mind. Let's Not Talk About Sex...? Or The Darker Side of Sex..

What' d'you think?

I like the Darker Side of Sex (as a title, that is *LOL*). That's catchy.

Seems whatever I watch before I go to bed causes sex dreams now. Last mon, Dean. Fri, Im watching American Gothic - Have sex with Lucas Buck all night. Battlestar Gallactica? Apollo. I dont think theres much hidden meaning here....

Hi Kleo...

*lol* I guess not!

Although, it may well depend on the 'type' of sex you're having too *wink*

I hope there's some clues here and on the previous post to guide you?

Sounds good to me : but you could look up 'Who do you dream off,' too" something there about Heroes? ...

James,

I think Fellini was big on this one too ... except he was usually day dreaming *chuckle* but to answer your question? (if it is)...

Trains are all about how we view our social / group interactions ... not usually sexual - well unless you are Fellini or perhaps thinking of an orgy?

Tunnels are not sexual par se, but more about exploring our unconscious and the things we have left untouched (unmatured).

Hope that helps you figure it out? *chuckle*

sweet dreams...
