Dreams of family members are often a big deal and (as you already know) really do have the ability to shake us up! Understandable really, as family members are the first security image we have as children, it is often later, through circumstances in life not within our control, that the image of them (and our security) becomes distorted.
Thankfully, it is within the safety of our dreamworlds that we either attempt to put these realtionships to rights .. (..to work it out), or to confirm the distortion as accurate. Thus it is often felt that an argument with a family member in your dream, is pointing to your struggle for individuality (just as in waking life), but in a safer place, within an environment you ultimately control. A place where you can win. A place where the peaceful solution can be found.
When family members pop into your dreams, you must pay particular attention to any diialogue you have involving them .. in this case, your mother; as it will offer you a big clue to the meaning of the dream. Everything concerning them is relevant. For example, recently my mother appeared in snapshots in a photo album. We had no conversation as such. The message in this case is that you would be well advised to avoid her in your waking life as it will not bring you the satisfaction you seek.
NOTE: Anyone appearing in dream photos will undermine your goals through petty jealousies and their advice should never be heeded. In fact, this was a warning dream, and in my case, *lol* it couldnt have been more spot on and surrendipidous, as I was (again) foolishly becoming sentimental and considering tracking my mother down (again) and making contact.
If however, you do have a conversation with your Mother (and she is not in photos) and either of you reveal a negative message to the other, you must also treat it as a warning and give it your full attention. Take steps to attend to the matter spoken off within seven days. If you do, you will be able to avert this thing becoming a problem now, or years from now.
DREAMING OF MUM : SUMMARY : You must become aware that you are the only person responsible for the successes you want to bring into your life. You can do this by applying yourself and buy being more assertive in those areas you want to experience prosperity in. As Mother would say, (with wagging finger) no one else can (or will) do the work for you.
Mother appearing in a Mans dream ~ Often points to him neglecting himself the right to a relationship completely. Fears and doubts have arisen out of insecurities which are impeding progress to the fulfillment of love. If this is you, you may have noticed a tendency to develop dependant relationships with many, or older women. Pay special attention to any messages she may give you in this dream.
Mother in a Womans Dream ~ A womans relationship with her mother will colour all other relationships in her life. She may find herself pushed into nurturing the needy male, or in forming relationships with both men and women which do not satisfy her basic needs. There are many ways through dreams of working through relationships with mother, and much can be gained by taking special note of what she is saying/doing/wearing/colours/ ambient background symbols. Such dreams are a way of telling you that you must strive to come to terms with the relationship in whatever way you can, and in whatever way is possible.
NOTE: Finding an energy healer who can conduct chakra balancing, emotional regression therapy, general healings or kinesiology can be a wonderful way to release blocked emotions caused by a negative, or toxic relationship with your mother.
In Gypsy folklore it is said that to dream of your mother (if she is living) means great joy to come; if she is dead, then sorrow will be yours for a while to come.
VARIATIONS ON A THEME
If Mum is Physically Active ~ You are not behaving in your own best interests. Somehow your current actions can bring you harm and you must stop and take stock of how you are behaving within the week if you are to avoid physical harm to yourself.
If Mum is Ill or Behaving Strangely ~ She is attempting to warn you that a small priceless item will be lost due to theft or carelessness on your part if you do not remain vigilant right now. Take aggressive steps to protect things that are precious to you.
Dreams of a Deceased Mum ~ You are on the right path in life and heading towards a fortuitous future. She comes to offer you the courage to explore the several options now available to you, in order to achieve your goals. Success is assured if you remain practical whilst taking calculated risks.
NOTE: There is the warning in this dream too, that you try and remember what she was dying off and warn her to take care of her health in this regard. Mother Figure ~ You are being asked to deny yourself nothing that helps you feel more at peace with yourself at this time. Time out; get a massage, pedicure; go camping fishing, swimming, shopping, meditating or socializing, whatever it takes to experience balance, tranquility and harmony. You are running on empty if this symbol appears and are strongly advised not to continue to include yourself in stressful activities.

Mother Lode ~ Someone will depend on you for answers. Time to go ahead with some more training and education in otder to providing the right answers when the time comes. A financial windfall when you least expect it (including promotion) can often follow this symbol when dreamt about.

It certainly makes sense that you dont dream of her, because the realtionship is good... half your luck, I guess, I really dont know, mine didnt stay around long enough to bond anything.. only popping back in and out to criticise and undermine my efforts with her petty jealousies.
Needless to say, with her finally gone some years ago, she has been a lead character in many of my dreams over the years, as together with regressional emotional release therapy, I slowly resolved all the animosity that rejection and abandonment can cause in the juvenille mind.
I guess one could call me a bit of an expert on this subject *lol* .. such is life and I wouldnt have it any other way now!

I shar ethis one with you, a very difiicult relationship caused by my mothers jealousy, and it really does add to the difficulties we experience in life along the way, colouring all our relationships to some hue of dysfunction.
Youa re lucky and I am glad you have had a chance to work out the problems with your mum, that is a real bonus and you should be very grateful for it. Mine wracked of with no forwarding address in the end, no chance to reconcile anything, and no support either, but it isn*t all bad as you say, because at least I have learnt not to suffer fools lightly.
