Dream Herald - by Lilla

In his work entitled *Sacred clowns* Tony Hillerman writes ~ *.... This business of hozho. The way I understand it ... I’ll use an example. Terrible drought, crops dead, sheep dying. Spring dried out. No water. The Hopi, or the Christian, maybe the Moslem, they pray for rain. The Navajo has the proper ceremony done to restore himself to harmony with the drought. You see what I mean. The system is designed to recognize what’s beyond human power to change, and then to change the human’s attitude to be content with the inevitable.* : The truth is, Dreams Help Us Adjust in exactly the same way . . .

Do You Have a Dream You Want Interpreted?

March 13th 2009 06:08
Hi Dreamers,

Many of you will know that in October 2006 I headed up and posted a post by this very same name and it proved very popular and helpful to quite a few. I think over the years I have interpreted for many of our orble greats and have learned much myself in the process, too.

Recently a comment by MisterSmith/Teresa was left on my recent Dream Boat post and went something like this;

I have had a pretty good look at this blog - didn't read everything. I think it would be really interesting to see one (or a few!) specific dreams interpreted in real depth - with attention to that particulars of the person who had the dream and their feelings about what is happening - kind of like an agony (dream) aunt. I do realize that you have already done this in some detail but you could put out a call for dreams then choose just one or two of the most interesting to interpret. Or just tell me to mind my own business!

As a result it dawned on me that there are a lot of new writers out there in orblelnd who would not find this post buried deep in the Dream Herlads vaults. So, I have Reposted the original Post Call for you dreamers everywhere to join in and find some answers to your most baffling Dreams and Nightmares, which may not mean what you think they mean at all!

Got one that reoccurs and comes back year after year, or a situation that just wont stop happening, again and again and again, or simply the worst nightmare of your life that has left you emotionally shaken to your core.. even all these years later?

Drop me a comment and see where we go ..

Because I know (as bloggers and some of you also parents like me), you will all appreciate the time I put into these interpretations and the sometimes lengthy wait times as I search my notes and texts, but I will respond and would ask that you take the time to peruse the original post <<here>> as well as the themed pages of this post, to find as much information for yourself as you can before posting lengthy dreams for my attention.

Keep them brief and to the main symbols you dreamt about and I will see what I can do to enlighten you, Anonyminity is okay if you are shy.

Sweet Dreamzzz.

Hi Lilla,
I haven't finished looking at your original post but I'd like to get your interpretation of a dream that I had for at least 30 years but no longer have. It is pretty basic and I know you have done a post on buildings already. I have my own idea of what this dream means but I'd like to see if you can clarify or add anything.
I am in a large building - sometimes a mansion and sometimes a hotel. To start off with the place is luxurious and sparkling. I know there is a room in the mansion/hotel that I have to get to and I move from floor to floor in a circuitous manner. All sorts of distractions delay my getting to the room. The higher I go the more dark and dilapidated the place becomes. I become more and more afraid. I climb some crumbling stairs towards a door that I know I must go through. By the time I reach the door I am petrified. That was as far as I ever got until the last time I had this dream, a few years ago. That time, as I was approaching the door I kept telling myself that I had to go through. I opened the door and saw that although it was dark in the room it was just an empty room.

Hi T,

Great news on passing through the door. It reminds me of the years of dreaming of being unable to cross this bridge as the fear would just overwhelm me before I even got part way across and I would turn back. Like you I eventually made it over a few years ago with ample confidence to spare. I guess it is obvious (as you say) these types of dreams are about transition and a major rite of passage. On a spiritual level, they are often the markers we have to announce the coming of the time of initiation into a higher awareness of our purpose on this planet as pre-determined before we got here. You know the old adage, you cannot have the wisdom before you can understand it.

So specifically, to your symbology, let*s see . . . as you know buildings are about how we view our personalities and rooms represent various aspects of spiritual/mental growth. Mansions (elaborate houses) and Hotels (a need to escape a situation) are listed and as you say, you already have the meanings from my Buildings posts, but generally the fluctuations of rooms and rotations would suggest to me, that you moved through a period of trying to be all things to all people, and sometimes gave too much of yourself away to your partner, friends and/or family, after which time, you probably felt that you were no more than a *stop in* and being used like a hotel, rather than the lady of the manor. No harm done it shows a good heart T, and that kindness given is never lost.

As time progressed over thirty years, your spiral of rooms headed upwards, a good sign that you were finding you own path anyway and gaining the control over your own life according to the dictates of your own conscience perhaps, but unless there are basements, not too much time in the subconscious mind?

As I said, no harm done in helping others, but as we grow we must also realize that we must be very careful to help ourselves along the way too, or we risk loosing all the good feelings life has to offer, and can suffer burnout and be of no use to anyone, waiting for someone to then rescue us.

Going upwards (up stairs) indicates that you were heading into the realms of the mind and intellect and spiritual wisdom along this very realisation. To see the rooms in disarray also strongly suggests your growing need/desire to complete formal (or esoteric) studies of some sort to this end to be able to *spring clean,* this space better. The disarray suggests that you felt out of your depth to do so, yet aware that you must get to the *spring cleaning* stage, in order to live more comfortably in this place, thus the growing unease, because sometime *spring cleaning* dream attics involves getting rid of certain people in the waking world… but sometimes all we can do as there is so much more to know and learn on the way to enlightenment and to have this dream repeat, suggests that you have a mission as a healer or something important.

Crumbling stairs is always about being aware of the effort we must take in order to achieve a goal. They are an indication of your confidence in you own abilities, and as such, when crumbling, were not too good at this time, possibly due to a lack of proper encouragement from family and friends?

Fear in dreams is interesting and simply put, gives you a clue as to the state of your waking mind. Dreams allow us the ability to feel our real emotions behind our waking persona, which might be cheerful. In this context dreaming of being afraid, generally points to trouble in your waking household, but it also signals that you will soon have the knowledge to make the correct decision regarding a problem, so it also serves as a sign to deepen your faith in a positive outcome, too.

A side note to being afraid in dreams is a little unknown fact that it also means that someone longs to be with you but is anxious about putting their passion into words. You will learn of their identity very soon after fear has been lurking through your dreamscape. However, because this is happening in*your (dream) house,* you must be careful that it is not you who is having these difficulties of expression?

Freud said all doors were about sexual intercourse, of course! Open and shut meant sex to him in any guise, but then I think he had a bit of a problem myself *lol* although, he paved the way for more spiritual researchers like Carl Jung, to add more spiritually enlightened meaning to the more fundamental realms of basic human desires. In this context Doors are about the mental obstacles and barriers we create to sabotage and hinder our own progress in life, in ALL areas, some sexual, others not. To finally have found your door open after all those years, and walked through it T, makes me want to hug you and shake your hand in congratulations! Its like when I crossed the bridge.. a milestone, breakthrough and a sure fire promise that with effort, (listen to your conscience first and foremost), you will reach your dreams/purpose/goals in this life. It means that all things which seemed impossible to you in the waking world before this dream event, are in fact now possible and I would be surprised if you said that your life hasn’t gotten a little better (calmer) since you first looked into that dark room.

Which is the last vestige of self discovery for you and a place where I am sure over the coming years you will find many new dream symbols appear (even though old ones can reappear from time to time ), as you find new (more peaceful) ways to get the life affirming encouragement you need.. the room is always empty at first, as you have yet to find its contents as the light (enlightenment) shines into it (your knowledge). A whole new area of mental and spiritual discovery.

Being empty simply means a lack of enthusiasm. This will be up to you to add as you go, by looking deeper into the shadows for meaning. Read deeper than novels, try some classics and spiritual texts to garner new meaning to life and its purpose (as you see it). I would strongly suggest breathe work like Yoga (union), or just deep breath meditation where you sit quietly and focus on your breath. Practice some prayer and look for its ability to change things. Try to contact your spiritual guides, through looking for signs and using your intuition only without rationalizing or over intellectualising things.

Enthusiasm for life can often be found in a daily workout of about 30 minutes. This will add vitality, energy and courage to the mix to help you explore new avenues. Not to mention mental acuity. Drink plenty water if you don’t already have a litre or two in your daily mix.
And to confirm, spiritually an empty room counsels that you carefully think things through before you commit time to the presence of someone else. At first you will feel excited about being their company but as time goes by you may feel uncomfortable and want to leave?

This is your new guideline. Watch your jaw, is it tightening around certain people? Have the courage to excuse yourself and look carefully at your need to be with them in the first place? You may be different in some way? Set aside a small block of time with these individuals first, before committing a large block of time. You are particularly sensitive to harsh environments right now and should avoid them at all costs.

A very positive dream T, and I hope my interp. Has helped add a few missing jigsaw pieces to the puzzle.

Hi Lilla,
Thanks very much for that comprehensive analysis. I knew that the dream signified, in part, something from my childhood that I had locked away (the house representative of my psyche) but I did feel that there was more beyond that simple explanation.
Much of what you say - the need to escape/gaining control / lack of confidence - was very accurate and opening that door really did cause a mental shift.
It is interesting that you say you had to cross a bridge because fairly recently I dreamt I was crossing a bridge (indoors) with my youngest son and when I woke up I was saying - " I know that means some thing but what the hell...?" No doubt, any progress towards a higher consciousness requires us to break free of the bonds that tie us down. My problem has been a knowing what I should be doing but being unable to make the effort to do it - so it's very slow progress. Your advice towards health practices is a reminder for me to get back on track. Thanks again

Three months ago I had a dream I was married to a women who died of cancer, I remember crying at the funeral and standing over her but I was happy that I had found some one that i loved even if it was for a short time. the dream was very vivid and I remembered it for several days.
I have now meet a women and two weeks after talking, she has been diagnosed with cancer! was it a preminition or a dream come true?

Hi Reality,

Yes you are correct you had a dream of prophetic prescience, or a promdromic dream.

There are many types of predictory dreams; these include dreams of prescience, telepathic, premonitional, and promdromic dreams . . ( . . there are more, but I will leave it there for this response).

Normal dreams can include all of the elements of these but they are not pure and are usually crazy, mixed up and filled with symbology to convey the messages. These are the ones I deal with mostly here on Dreamherald, to help people make sense of them, because the things that don*t make sense in our dreams, often hold the very keys of understanding we need to know/sort out/tell ourselves/deal with, situations both already upon us and pending .

However, your dream was clear, concise factual and is known as a Dream of Prescience; these are rare because they are very factual and real, almost exact in every detail. Not mixed up at all. They contain a larger degree of warning or prescience, some more than others. So they fall in the basket with the prophetic, precognitive, or telepathic dream basket.

One account is as follows:

These are the dreams that people less sophisticated than the world-weary westerners believe can guide, warn and inform. Genghis Khan is said to have dreamed what fate held in store for him; centuries later Jung claimed to have had several prophetic dreams about the Second World War.

So you see, the various types of prophetic dreams are usually concerned with the future in an uncomplicated way, albeit they are rare amongst dreamers. Unfortunately there is no way of telling which dream is which, unless you get involved with your dreams on a personal level and start noting down details from each dream in a daily journal; except perhaps that dreams of prescience tend to stay with you as very real for a few days, as you describe. They have a real haunting quality to them that you cannot shake easily.

However, as a general rule though, it is safe to say that Prophetic dreams par se ~ generally deal more with the impersonal then personal, things that affect community at large, rather than just the dreamer. (I remember dreaming of the Twin Towers and recent Tsunami in Aceh, with the clearest of details just before each took place) . . .

Precognitive dreams, on the other hand, are much more personal, although usually advising the dreamer not to do something. Like those who dreamt of not taking the Titanic on its fateful maiden voyage in 1912, or the fellow who had a precognitive dream to avoid the Blue Mountains train that later crashed at Granville in Sydney.

Dreams of Prescience however, are those where the future of the individual and his own life alone are seen. Here, the individuals future is clearly seen exactly as it will unfold and it is into this category that your dream falls.

There is another category of pure Prescience, which deals primarily with health, and that is a Prodromic Dream; which comes from the Greek *promdromos* meaning *forerunner* and simply means a dream that signals the impending onset of a disease or illness. They are often nightmarish, featuring wars, fire and natural disasters, or they can be intensely personal as was yours, although not about you specifically, someone you would meet and be involved with. The line is thin here.

I hope that helps you understand and perhaps has been a forerunner itself, in pointing me in the direction of doing a post on all the other various kinds of dreams that exist as per their classifications. Thank you for taking the time to comment.

I hope that a dream of good health and a cure can be found soon. Cancers can often go into remission through unorthodox energy healings, not easily explained by the orthodox medical profession and I hope your search for such a cure, is successful. One thing is sure, Reality, you are no ordinary soul to be chosen for this task and I am sure the prayers of many are with you, my own included.

Lilla ..

I recently had a dream that I was being held and kissed by tall dark man. It was a pleasant experience and I felt in love with the man. Who incidently could be one of two men that in waking life I have dated. However, I'm not sure which one it was in the dream. They both have similar body shape and type. But, upon waking I recieved a text message from one of the men. What is the correlation between my dream lover and my waking life?
