..and so to sleep, per chance to dream.

Components and Locations of Buildings ~ N-P

November 12th 2007 02:48
Narrow ~ Anything that appears in your dream home that is narrow; like a doorway, a corridor, a passage, a room, or a piece of furniture, is telling you that you must become aware in your waking life of the restrictions and limitations that surround you at this time. Sometimes they are self created, at other times people are creating them for us.

A narrow road or pathway to the house – often indicates a need to stay on the path, because restriction and limitation may well be the wisest measure right now.

A narrow bridge across a moat – indicates that you be mindful of not becoming narrow minded right now in reaching out. If you are having trouble with communications right now, practice meditation and waiting until a better time to speak about your ideas…

(See Moat).

Neighbour ~ to see a neighbour banging on your dream home door, or pottering within your dream home (or garden), is pointing you towards the realms of fellowship and your need for it, at this time. It is time for you to prepare yourself to become ready to join others in a communal project of some sort.

Orchard (in the Garden) ~ represents our attempts to look after ourselves. Interpretation is dependant on whether the trees are showing flowers or fruit.

Flowers – point to the potential we have for success… and that properly used now, our invested energy will hopefully bear fruit.

Fruit – is reassuring you as to the harvest that we may gather if we do invest our energies now… go ahead, it is a wise time to be bold.

Plain Trees – (see Trees).

Ornaments ~ tend to presage that our personal space can be used more fully and therefore bring us greater success. You are asked to go back to basics here, but are urged to actively take steps to improve your situation, through effort.

Ornaments are tangible and recognisable spirituality.

(If you cannot find the object in previous posts, leave a comment and I’ll see if I have that object listed somewhere).

Oven ~ (modern or old fashioned) is more often than not, a group iconic representation of the human ability to transfer raw ingredients into something palatable. In the case of a dream it is pointing to your ability to transform character traits and behaviour from a coarse form, into something more refined.

As such it is a symbol of spiritual transformation and growth.

Parcel/Package ~ A secret. Something we have experienced, but not necessarily explored. At this stage, when this symbol appears, we do not quite know what the potential of the gift (we have) is, but by exploring further, (now), can find this out.

Our spiritual gifts can often be those we have received from others, or latent gifts we have yet to discover within, and explore. If a package arrives, it means you need to start to unpack some deeper spiritual ‘gift’ to offer new meaning into your existence.

Sending a Parcel or Package – we are sending our energy out into the world to see what it will return.

Path/Pathway ~ is about a particular way you have chosen to take in life, or how a relationship or situation is developing by following that direction. Take note if the path is smooth or rocky, winding or straight.

A Pedestal – Is showing you that which you have made very special. Take note of the object you have placed upon it. Most humans have the ability to worship certain characteristics in others and dreams of a pedestal will often occur to show the appropriateness (or not) of such action.

A good feeling in the dream - signifies an imitation of good traits in others, is beneficial to our well being.

Bad vibes and nightmares - around this symbol represent idolatry, which will impede and possibly corrupt our own spiritual journey.

Pier – if your house is by the sea, and has a pier jutting out over the water, then dreaming of yourself on the pier is suggesting happy times and memories... and more importantly, your immediate need of some rest and relaxation.

As a Point of Embarkation or Arrival - a pier points the way for new opportunities or the end of a phase of your life (if witnessed as the end of a journey), which indicates that you are moving to a new level of spiritual understanding.

Pillar ~ One symbolism of the pillar is phallic (no surprises there), but another one is probably more accurate and points to creating stability in our lives. As a dream symbol it is about our ability to stand firm in the presence of difficulty.

To Be a Pillar of the Community – in your dream, suggests that you should be taking more responsibility for your actions than you have to date (or in this situation).

What are you shirking off?

Supporting Pillars – indicates that the structure we have given our lives may need some attention.

Two Pillars – is highlighting the difference between masculine and feminine, or appearing in your dream to highlight the contrast between spiritual and material power.
To see both can also mean that many things are soon to be revealed, both good and bad.

Left Pillar – always represents the feminine (subconscious) (often seen as black or shadowy).

Right Pillar – always represents the masculine (consciousness) and is often seen in dreams as white, or sunny and bright.

Plumbing ~ can mean many things as pipes can vary in use, but when we are in difficulty in everyday life, a simple symbol like plumbing pipes will indicate how we can make connections between the various aspects the situation, to resolve it.

Water Pipes – offer information as to how we might handle our emotions. The size of the pipe is significant here, as big pipes may represent the need to channel / control rampant emotions. However, little pipes under high pressure can also signal warnings of their own.

Usually hidden from view, water pipes specifically alert us to the way we need to direct our emotions; sometimes by bypassing obstacles in order to create security. In dreams their appearance allows us to ‘see’ the flow of spiritual and emotional energy within ourselves, projected within the security of our dream house.

If There Is a Blocked Pipe – it is alerting you to the possibility of a dangerous health situation and perhaps you should get a check-up of the main arteries and your ‘internal plumbing.’ Perhaps a bladder infection is imminent? As our bodies tend to speak our minds, this dream would also be suggesting that you look at where you store your emotional baggage. There is a need to find ways to release all your emotional baggage.

Suggested methods are; any of the deep breathing disciplines like meditation, yoga, or shamanic drumming methods; Reiki; Crystal and Chakra healing/balancing; prayer, fasting and meditational retreats.

Tobacco Pipe or Chillum – can suggest a means of escape.

Musical Pipe – (see Musical Instruments)

Pit ~ Often a dire symbol that will manifest as a result of feeling despair in our waking life. Like death, pits are about a void… we have no choice and have to go forward. The death here is often symbolic and not actual and is more likely pointing to the death of the old self, before a new way of life can begin.

This symbol will highlight feelings of despair and help find solutions for finding a way ‘out of the pit’ of our waking environment. Facing the pit takes great courage and even though we know we may fail, we must go forward in order to bring change for the better into our lives.

If you are otherwise happy and this symbol appears, it can also herald that you be careful of pending situations, so as not to put yourself into the pit of despair.

To Be Digging a Pit – you may have to become (or are becoming) conscious that you are creating a situation for yourself. Beware!

If Others Are Digging The Pit – you have lost the feeling that you are in control over your circumstances.. and indeed this warns that only doom and disaster are inevitable if this continues.

Rescuing Others From A Pit –
(especially members of your own family), suggests that you have the information you need to be of use to others, to enable them to overcome their problems.

Pushing Someone Into The Pit – indicates that you may be trying to suppress a part of your personality, which must now be allowed to surface and be fully ‘felt’ and ‘explored.’

Aware That The Pit Is Bottomless –
is saying that you no longer have the resources available to you to recover a previous situation. You must let it go and move on.

Places/Settings ~ there are certain houses, buildings and surroundings/grounds/gardens/ countries/terrain - which as settings in dreams, are particularly noticeable. These ‘places’ are not lay and are always giving some message or information that can be of great use to you, as the dreamer.

Sometimes, they may be simply reflecting your inner state of mind or mood, at other times they serve as reminders of a particular place that had meaning or significance. Perhaps times from your past, where certain skills were learned and employed and which can be of use again in your current situation.

They are basically dreams that offer an arrow on the map showing you, that: YOU ARE HERE… so orientating yourself to using the information provided is easier and more effective.

So, be thorough and take note of the symbols of places/settings as they appear in your nightscapes… here a few of the most common;

Dreary, Unfriendly Places, or Tranquil Favourable Landscapes – will be reflecting your subjective view of the world at this time.

The Countryside – offers certain resonances to putting ourselves in touch with our own feelings. There is in most people’s minds a sense of freedom, openness and peace about the countryside and as such the symbology tends towards suggesting the need for clarification of feelings about our chosen lifestyle. It can be reflecting a mood, especially about freedom.

Are the forces of ‘nature’ calling you to be more spontaneous?

A Specific Country –

America – for most will signify a rather brash, commercially oriented culture,
England – tends to represent the inhibited and dutiful,
France – the temperamental masculine,
Germany – Inventive, somewhat autocratic, yet progressive, and so on…

Look at the specific overall nature of the nation in which you house is located to see the overall pattern of your behaviour whilst ‘staying’ here.

Composite Scenes, Consisting of Many Recognisable Images – are usually drawing attention to particular qualities, ideals and moods which can all be used to enhance the interpretation, deepening meaning and clarity. For example : A chair under a tree, in a bright sunny playground, near the sea.

Our Birthplace/Birth-House - represents security and our current need for it.

A Bright and Sunny Place/House – suggests fun and liveliness (do you need more of it in your life, or is it reflecting that you have it?)… the same goes for :

Dark, Shadowy, Murky Scene/House –
which augurs a period of despondency and gloom in your mood, needing exploration, and which may take time to lift. Be careful not to let it slip into full-blown depression. Looking around this dream for what other symbols are present, as they will often offer you a workable pathway out of the gloom.

If the Dark Scene/House Turns Lighter During the Dream – it means that certain aspects of yourself which you have not previously appreciated (or even found repugnant and unpleasant) are now beginning to develop into possibilities and potentials for further spiritual development. A way forward is emerging here.

Congratualtions!

Darkened Places (in general) – (like basements in the house, dark rooms, shadowy hallways, dark stairs, etc.,) are often signals that you are within the subconscious mind and things are about to get interesting (usually very random, profound, and with the potential to deeply impress certain emotions and images upon you … mostly resulting with conscious insight and change).

A Familiar Place/House – Will be taking you back to a time of learning (often childhood).

A Particularly Beautiful Place -
will allow you to fantasize – suggesting you make more use of creative visualisation in your daily life to help achieve your goals.

Visualisation Technique 101 : sit quietly and focus on your breathing. Take big breathes in and blow out loudly, repeat … stay focused on your breathing, and after a few minutes, picture the future you want (or are trying to achieve) and put yourself into that picture. See yourself there; doing whatever it is you hope to be doing. Spend some time there; imagining the colours of the décor, what you are wearing, the people present…so on and so forth.

Remember: primarily, it is not the destination which we seek, but the experience of the journey itself. Take time to visualise yourself stopping to smell the roses… perhaps even visualising adventures along the way to your goal, as they may well bring a greater joy than the goal itself.

Jungles – The adventurous side of your nature is trying to emerge and see the light of day and more exciting activities. There is also a sexual connotation here of your need to connect to the labyrinth to better understand your sexuality.

(see Labyrinth).

A Sheltered/calm place – is saying you need peace and security now. You may need a quiet place or period of time, in order to reflect on the situation and your feelings towards it.

Unknown Places/Houses – are terribly exciting because they are the opening up of aspects of ourselves that we have (to date) been unaware of … as such they can sometimes lead us to;

Places/Houses Which Seem Familiar, But Are Still Unknown – signifying a situation we may be continually ‘re-running’ in our lives, on auto-replay. If this is you, there is an old saying that goes something like;

If you continually do things in the same way,
Do not expect a different outcome.

Wide-open Spaces/Houses – Suggest that you need more freedom of movement in your waking life, or it’s time to have a garage sale to create some order in the chaos.

Till next time, sweet dreamzzzzz.

Like the zzzzz, who is the good looking new chic, my dreams feature people and places I know, if a little bizarre at times, I want to get back there but do not know if I can, are my dreams just confirming my thoughts, often I can do without them, I find them distressing.

Hello Katyzzz,

Familiar places are usually about security and perhaps they disturb because you have to weigh continued growth against settling into the routine of the familiar... not an easy task at any age...

If you should get back there you can be assured you are making spiritual headway and not stagnant, and that is good news for a progressive soul like you, I think.

Thanks, happy to be flitting around again and yes, those zzzzzz are mezzzmorizzzing aren't they... they make me feel zleepy...*yawn* and ..oops, time for my afternoon nap... per chance to dream some more?

zzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Always a good read Lilla

Love the visualization technique - I try and do this before I go to bed every night and have done for years - at the moment I`m just acknowledging the journey as it couldn`t be further from what I have been visualizing! ha! you have to love the journey.

Thanks Ash,

I don't know if I can keep doing this blog as it is so time consuming... perhaps just one letter at a time or something...? ...but I did enjoy this one as I spend many hours each night in different houses and buildings and have all sorts of adventures within amazing walls... so it is helping me to go through it all... some is still unknown and has to be looked up on the net and in various almanac's I have, so I guess it is worth continuing for that purpose alone, as it offers fodder for my journey ... who said the path should be easy?

As the Irish say, I hope the path rises up to meet you.

I hope you decide on the one letter at a time option... gotta love the dream posts.

I can`t imagine how long it would take for you to compile these posts though, so it is understandable

Thanks Ash,

I'll give that a go for starters as I have readers outside of orble as well and I enjoy writing them, but this one (for example) took about four hours (plus)!

I have another life too *chuckle* although you'd never know it some days ...

Hope all's well, talk again soon.

Lilla ...xx
