Buildings In Dreams - D - I

July 23rd 2007 06:37
The Crooked house of Poland

Fairground – although not technically a building, this is a man-made environment almost like a small world of it’s own and in dreams can often indicate a form of inhibition, of needing to once again reconnect to the childlike ‘happy,’ light-hearted parts of ourselves through new activities or old ones we have forgotten to enjoy.

A fairground can indicate that you are becoming aware of the most hedonistic side of your nature. Or are you just plain wrapped up in your own pleasures of late?

To be on a Merry-go-round – signifies that you look at all of life’s ups and down’s before making your decision.

Fiesta – means it is time to drop all the unnecessary constraints you have been placing upon yourself and go join the party.

Fortress –see Castle.

Forest – The Forest is a symbol of the psyche. The Feminine.

Entering a Small Wood or Forest - under of a complete canopy of trees - is said to be an indication that you are entering a place of testing and initiation in life. It is always a place that represents the need for us to come to terms with the emotional self, and further understanding the secrets of our own spiritual nature.

A dark or enchanted forest – is a threshold symbol. It reflects the soul entering the areas it has never explored before, again needing initiation into new ways of being.

Garage – The garage in a dream is about how we are getting on in life’s workshop. It’s about taking stock and working on skills like; planning, strategising, goal-setting – things that help propel you forward in life.

Your car in a dream represents your ability to move forward in your life, and your garage is what keeps that car in good working order. Very often being in a garage, is about looking at what you have in reserve for your drive and motivation, and possibly your own abilities themselves.

Working on a Car in the Garage – is a clear indication that you may literally be in need of some personal body maintenance.

Garden – is a fascinating place that often represents your life and all the aspects of it. It's about the inner life and all that we hold dear about our own being lives, here in our dream garden. Pay attention to the state of it, as it indicates the areas of growth you may be trying to cultivate within yourself.

Vegetable Gardens – lean towards representing immanent personal growth – “reaping what you sow.”

If the plants are poorly - it means that you may need to reassess your plans or retrace your steps. Look again at your intentions.

If all is growing well - you can look forward to hearty results from the effort you’ve invested.

Home or House – You and your life… the dream usually mirrors the events in your life.

The Basement/Cellar – usually represents the subconscious and the things we have suppressed because we cannot deal with them. The basement contains power if we are willing to make use of it and these dreams are usually “powerful” dreams, because we may have not yet comes to terms with our own sexuality, preferring to keep it hidden from ourselves.

The Top Floor – your spirituality....

The Attic – Past experiences and old memories. Funnily enough it can also be highlighting family behaviour and patterns that have been handed down.

And the floors in between – your current life (security/comfort, needs/fears etc).

Bathroom – You attitudes to personal cleanliness. Be aware that your most private thoughts and actions will be shown in the dream bathroom, or toilet.

Bedroom – portrays a place of safety where we can relax and be as sensual as we wish. Interruptions here mean you need to address what is intruding on your sensuality.

The Chimney – A passage from one state to another and a conductor of heat. Often indicative of how you deal with your emotions and warmth towards other people.

Hallways – represent how we meet and relate to other people.

Library – Our minds and how we store the information we receive, often appears in the midnight dream library. (note the order of seemingly random book titles and information whilst here, for clues)…

The Front of the House – portrays the front we show to the outside world (our mask).

Going Into/Out of the House –
identifies whether we are feeling a need to be more introverted or extroverted right now.

An Impressive, Awe Inspiring House – You are conscious of your own Self or soul.

Moving to Another House – The need for change in our lives, perhaps to achieve a more open way of living and being ourselves?

Being Outside the House – The more public aspect of your life is being illustrated.

The House Where You Were Born – you are seeking security and not wanting responsibility.

If the House is Too Small and Constrictive – You are being trapped by your responsibilities and may need to escape.

Maintenance on the house; cementing, repairing etc – Relationships may need some working on or repair… or is your health in need of some overhauling? It may be time to look at the “weathering” and “damage” the house has taken in our lives, before continuing.

If the House is Not Empty – take note of the furnishings for clues.

Someone Else in the House – suggests you are feeling threatened by an aspect of your own personality.

Hospital – This dream depends solely on whether you are a patient, visitor or doctor and whether the hospital is friendly or scary. Either way it is a transitory dream environment where things can be brought into a state of balance.

As a patient and a place of healing – it represents that part of ourselves that knows when respite is necessary and if you are a patient in the hospital you need rest and TLC, especially if you feel vulnerable in the dream.

Just being in the hospital building – may be mentally creating a transition period between something that has not gone well, and an improved attitude where things can get better.

Visiting someone in hospital – indicates that you may be aware of that part of yourself that is “dis-eased” which needs clarity to heal, now.

Hotel – This dream is about temporary sanctuary from either your need to escape from a situation in a very short time. Or, conversely, it can mean that a situation you are in, will only last a short time. Look around you for more clues.

To be a guest in a hotel – indicates feelings of being unsettled in a present situation, of not being able to settle down.

Living in a hotel – indicates basic restlessness in your character that you may be attempting to escape from, rather than look at.

Igloo – stands for wholeness and completeness and is therefore a dream sanctuary. Warm on the inside and cold on the outside and therefore significant of the internal and external worlds we have created for ourselves.

Thanks Katyzzz,

...you are most kind, but as you already know, it is the world and the people in it that are so interesting (especially to me) ...this house... is just one of a few by the same designer and it blows me away each time I look at it too...just like a dream I had about five years ago.

Glad you enjoyed it too...

Ash,

Makes me wonder if the inside is crooked too?

I can imagine your camera would gobble this one up and others he has made.

Are you aware of Guadi's work in Spain (near Barcelona)...?

No Lilla I have not heard of him/her before.... I shall have a lil' look see! My grandmother took me to see the Crooked House in Windsor ... this one looks way cooler... I`ll have to take her on a trip when I visit her again me thinks

I like the idea it being crooked inside - what a refreshing change that would be!

Ash,

Guadi lived in Barcelona and Catalonia for some time and for visuals on some of his amazing architecture, try this link << here>>...his work mimicks nature and follows her lines and is absolutely amongst the most admired in the world ...if you ask me it's his macarbe buildings that put Barcelona on the map!

Hope you enjoy the view?

...if I ever have the option I will also opt for one of these... out in the bush somewhere, eco-friendly... how cool would a Guadi-styled, hobbit house be?

that would be very cool.... quite literally too! Check out this guys Hobbit House... I WANT ONE OF THOSE!!!!

Are you familiar with the 'Monasteries of Meteora' in Greece, particularly Varlaam Monastery? Greek architecture is incredible... in fact all of Greeks arts are incredible... they sure knew what they were doing!

OMG Ash, the Hobbit House…WOW! How beautiful is that?

Absolutely stunning, and here in the big Q. it’d be absolutely fabulous for the hot climate.

Which kinda brings me to another stupidity of building quaint little, europeam red-rooved houses all over Australia and particularly W.A. and Queensland...only to have to install air-con. Talk about Elizabethan mentality!

How perfect these Woodland homes would be… oh yeah… that’s for me too… wow, I’m really impressed and lining this one up for my retirement (dream on)…NOW THAT IS A DREAM BUILDING!!!

Thanks for the link to the Meteora Monasteries too, I had heard of them, but only on a more subliminal level… looking at them is awesome… wow, just goes to show what patience can achieve.

I've always loved Grecian art, but still haven’t been there, and a full fine-tooth-comb expedition/ trip of Geece is second on my list of places to visit in this lifetime. Egypt is first and I intend to fit both in next time I venture forth.

Incredible both of them, thanks for the links, I’m dashing off to do so many things, amongst them now some research on those Woodland homes.

Wow, I'm impressed!

Thank you.

Lilla

Thought you might like that house Lilla.... it`s AWESOME isn't it??!!!! I would love one like that myself.... only if I could build it though - that would be the best part! Talk about making your love nest With the current housing prices I`m thinking - buy land and build a house like that! Totally do-able.

I was supposed to go to Egypt for History Society in High School and then again last year Nov... both times have fallen through... grrrrr! You will definitely have to post about that one... with LOADS of photos. It would be an amazing place to visit... you would need a lifetime to explore, wandering through all those dusty chambers...

and then on to Morocco....

gosh there is such a huge world out there! Happy travels, happy research and happy busy-ness!

Hi Lilla, I was just about to say, the house reminded me of Gaudi's work.
Thanks for all the info. I love reading about dream interpretations.
