Dream Herald - by Lilla

In his work entitled *Sacred clowns* Tony Hillerman writes ~ *.... This business of hozho. The way I understand it ... I’ll use an example. Terrible drought, crops dead, sheep dying. Spring dried out. No water. The Hopi, or the Christian, maybe the Moslem, they pray for rain. The Navajo has the proper ceremony done to restore himself to harmony with the drought. You see what I mean. The system is designed to recognize what’s beyond human power to change, and then to change the human’s attitude to be content with the inevitable.* : The truth is, Dreams Help Us Adjust in exactly the same way . . .

Salmon – To the Native American culture, Salmon remains the sacred keeper of wisdom and inner knowing, who despite strong river currents, will always return to the place of its creation. And it is here that traditional Western dream analysis finds him also…in the waters of abundance.

If Salmon has swam upstream into your dream-lagoon, he is telling you it is time to trust your gut feelings and inner knowing towards reaching your goals. You must trust your inner wisdom now to flush out a possible rival. Stay away from those who would manipulate you for their own gain. Take note of where you begin to become distracted and confused?

Has recklessness been preventing you from achieving your goals?

Salmon asks : ‘ Are you being stubborn about a situation, ignoring wise counsel and good advice, just to achieve the good opinion of others, who do not care about you? ‘

Salmon . . . keeper of inner knowing,
Illuminate all that I can see,
Fill me with the love of learning,
Life’s sacred wisdom offered to me.

By Jamie Sams and David Carson.

In mythology the Salmon signifies knowledge of other worlds (the lands beneath the sea) and of other-worldly things.

Seen Swimming Upstream – it is time to go back and retrace your path to this point. Salmon says here, ‘Remember : the wisdom is inside you, honour it by behaving in a manner that honours your path, you will not go wrong.’

Salmon knows that the proper use of inner knowing comes when you flow with your authentic feelings, embracing all the experiences you encounter in life, as learning lessons rather than hardships.

In a young woman’s dream – the salmon is often a symbol of your subconscious wish for pregnancy and a growing need to nurture.

Sardines – symbolise many (little) troubles ahead for you to swim through. Small niggling things, which although not big of their own, will soon add up. Take care not to be worn down through their persistent nips, by drinking more water and less coffee.

Sometimes an indication of arguments to come with relatives… Sardines asks if someone in the family has been annoying you lately. They may also point to a promise that has not been kept, which is now “lurking about?”

Old sea-fearing legends, tell that to dream of Sardines, means that you had the Black Mark of Dishonour upon you. It is said, that to Pirates it was a sign that you had to set things straight, by doing what was right right, in order to quell the tide of bad luck unleashed upon you, least you end up in Davey Jones’ Locker.

Scarab Beetle – Egypt’s sacred symbol, scurries into your dreamscape to tell you to : ‘pay attention now to what is unregarded or discarded, because it holds a secret, a seed of creation.’ A secret which may be the catalyst for a new endeavour, some possible unguessed-at knowledge, or even the secret that will unlock your heart.

Like the flowering seed within the beetles dung ball, consider those unregarded in the river of your life. Have you neglected someone along your way recently, someone who may have gifts to give you?

Like the Scarab, who generates life from the waste of others, you must sift through what has been said, to see what you may have discarded or even despised, for within its dimensions, lie the germs of new ways of creative thinking.

Scorpion – In any setting (awake or asleep), she inspires both reverence and respect. In your dreamscape she reminds you that her sting brings forth both death and a potent aphrodisiac for her mate, passion : a reminder then, that sex affects our psyches in different and powerful ways.

Scorpions often appear in dreams to augur potent new soul mate-relationships. If you have started or are contemplating something new (or a reunion)…her very appearance is a sign that the relationship is a special one. Scorpion reminds us that passion offers the challenge of ecstasy and pain, and if followed, she guides us with a timely warning, to : ‘.. be aware that relationships entered into now, will profoundly affect your being.’

But she also counsels that you accept the challenge.

To be stung by a scorpion in a dream, and feel her venom - signifies the need to address a tendency to sabotage relationships through destructive feelings, thoughts or words – often against yourself.

Seal – playful and full of imagination, intuition and the power of dreams, she's swum into your dream-sea to remind you that : ‘…hard work and inspiration are the foundation of true creativity.’

And if you have been working hard, or become bogged down in the material world, seal is here to tell you that some of your unrealised dreams, will now come to fruition through your efforts. You will have the support of good friends and a secure love.

Check to make sure you are at ‘one,’ within the element in which you live?

Shark – Do not worry about the powerful feelings that threaten to overcome you - all will be well if Shark swims on past - you will overcome all obstacles.

To be bitten (or eaten) by a shark – signals that you have jealous enemies working against you and you must identify them, for they are subtle and undermining your power and authority.

Use prayer, meditation, crystals and smudging to protect your aura, until they are identified.

Sheep – is renowned for its flock instinct, and it is this interpretation which is usually accepted in dreams.

Are you feeling a little helpless, off balance or unintelligent in your present circumstances?

Sheep counsels that it is better to stay within the ‘flock’ right now, rather than venturing out on your own. A better time will come for you to choose the independent path and blaze new trails … but not today.

Skunk – symbolises reputation, because he has such a large one! Go ahead and laugh, he says, because he knows his odour carries much power. It is his distinctive behaviour that makes us give him wide berth. The key word here being; ‘respect.’

Have you been feeling a little ‘walked on’ lately by others?

Skunks ‘I-dare-you’ attitude, is telling you to learn to assert what you are, without ego, and respect will follow. A self-respectful attitude will repel those who are not of like mind, whilst attracting those who choose the same pathway.

As his odour attracts others of its kind, following his counsel will automatically repel those who will not respect your space.

If Skunk is stinking out your dreamscape, he is saying : ‘.. observe whether or not you are repelling others because of envy, jealousy, or by projecting their own low self-esteem back onto them.’

Skunk . . . tell me the story,
So I will know it well,
Of how to attract,
And how to repel.

By Jamie Sams and David Carson.

Generally - when Skunk appears, it is time to look at the types of people who are attracted to you. If they emulate good characteristics, then have enough self-esteem to recognise those same traits within yourself.

But if you are not impressed with what you see, beware that you are not leaking vital emotional energy, by dumping all your woes on anyone who’ll listen, or leaking sexual energy, and repulsing the object of your interest.

Self respect is the key here and Skunk says : ‘..If your ego is not your amigo, you know it stinks!’

Sloth – says : ‘Consider the smallness of your needs and treasure what you have.’ In your dream-jungle sloth is considered anything but lazy, in fact she is virtue incarnate : a perfectly balanced eco system. Impregnable to predators, surrounded by nourishment and bathed in sunlight. Sloth is proof that doing nothing and wasting nothing, is often the best course of action.

She is calling you to treasure the things around you. Squander nothing now, especially love and the material things already accumulated, even if they are no longer new.

It’s time to relax in true prosperity.

Snakes (or Serpents) – are a universal symbol throughout human history and as such, icons that are deeply embedded in the human psyche. From the Eastern Hindu Kundalini, to the Judean/Christian Serpent in the tree of Good and Evil; bringer of good or bad, the snake coils and slithers throughout most cultures, in one form or another.

In dreams interpretations, it can be either male or female, signify death (destruction) or life (rejuvenation). It is a symbol of instinctive nature and also represents potential energy - like the Caduceus serpents of opposites, revealed to Hermes (the father of alchemy) - the wisdom of healing and the DNA building blocks of life … of the knowledge, that all things are equal in creation.

When the power of instinctive nature is understood and harnessed, the dreamer comes to terms with his or her own sexuality and sensuality, and is able to make use of the higher and more spiritual energies, which then become available through the understanding of itself. True sentience.

Thus the spiritual serpent of the Kundalini of eastern meditation rises up the spine, it’s fire of passion burning up desire : meets the Native American transmutation of the life-death-rebirth cycle. Both exemplified, by the fire of Snake’s poison transmuting all mental, physical, spiritual and emotional pollution within the human psyche.

Snake . . . come crawling,
There’s fire in your eyes,
Bite me, excite me,
I’ll learn to realise,

The poison transmuted,
Brings eternal flame.
Open me to heaven,
To heal me again.

by Jamie Sams and David Carson

Generally - when a snake slithers into your dreams it is a strong sign, that it is time to accept (on a personal level) that you are a universal being in a state of change. You must accept all aspects of your life, as there is a strong need for you to shed your skin and transmute some thought, action, or desire into your life.

Wholeness may now be achieved… if you are not scared to venture outside your comfort zone.

It is a heavy magic and symbol, but Snake asks you to remember : ‘…magic is often no more than a change in consciousness.’

In a woman’s dream – (on a mundane level) the snake can manifest if you are afraid of sex, or more often, of your ability to seduce others.

In a man’s dream –
(on a mundane level) the snake symbolises that you may be doubting your own masculinity, the answer for which often lies in balancing your intuitive emotions against the aggressive ones.

To be bitten by a snake – can sometime foretell treachery from one you least expect. However, may be just the situation needed to prompt you to make changes.

To see a snake Entwined Around Your Body or Limbs – suggests an enslavement of some sort, usually to passion or substance addictions.

A Snake, or Worm, Leaving a Corpse by its Mouth – can represent the sexual act itself (the little death), but more often than not, signifies the dreamers control over his or her libido.

A Snake in the Grass – denotes disloyalty, trickery and evil around you. Beware of who you confide in and seek spiritual protection from meditation, prayer and crystals.

A Snake with its Tail in its Mouth – is one of the oldest images of humankind and signifies completion of a cycle, harmony and the union of the spiritual and physical is now, as one. Great peace will soon be yours as well as worldly success.

Colours of the Snake may give additional details

Spider – floats into your dreamscape on silken strands to say : ‘.. travel now, could open up new possibilities and one special connection.’ There is more to the story of ‘Charlotte’s Web’ than we know, because according to Native American legend, Spider’s web brought humans their first picture of the alphabet, through the angles of her web. She dreamed and wove the first alphabet of reality and how future generations would record their history and communicate.

Spider symbology can also weave the webs of fate for those who get caught in the web of illusion of the physical world, never seeing beyond the horizon to other dimensions. Beware a lack of creativity doesn’t make you a stagnating Black Widow Spider, full of resentment, which eats you up from inside.

In this way, she calls you to think outside the box, don’t get caught in the polarity of good and bad, as they can change anytime. Spider comes to your dream web when you must be decisive, to help you against getting caught up in your own fears and limitations. She is the Great Mother in her role as the Weaver of reality – the creative female energy of the universe - calling to you … create, create, create!

Look for new alternatives to your present impasse, instead of being critical and blaming others because of your own weaknesses. Understand, that you are as infinite as the expansiveness of the eternal plan. You are the weaver of your own destiny and you must look through the world with new eyes.

Find deeper understanding to perceive that nothing is impossible!

Spider . . .weaving webs of delight,
Weave me a peaceful world.
Carrying creation in your web,
Waiting to be unfurled!

By Jamie Sands and David Carson.

Remember : Spider also sees her world through vibration and light, translating them into knowledge. Take wisdom from what you cannot see, and if the fleeting touch of another affects (or has affected you), acknowledge that connection and allow it to flourish.

To see a Spider’s Web – in your dream, signifies the changing fortunes of the wheel of life. Be mindful of you’re becoming too close to an entangling situation. Keeping a journal now, can help you remain mindful of how you are making your progress.

To be Stuck in a Spider’s Web – brings a message of different kind. When she sees you becoming a bit too involved in the weaving of your life plans to notice opportunity at the outskirts of your web, she sticks you fast, to get your attention. She does this so that you may notice that something you have previously woven has borne fruit. Congratulations!

Take a look around your waking world … notice any achievements?

To be bitten by a Spider – is often a sign of a pending problem with your mother or mother-in-law. Keep your counsel and be prepared for difficulties through misunderstandings, or a clash of wills. One of you may be feeling stagnant, unable to move in a positive direction, creating a growing resentment.

To see a small Spider kill a large spider – is a sign of immanent wealth, maybe even a small windfall?

Squirrel – has scurried into your dream tree, to tell you to plan ahead for the winter, for when the trees are barren. She says : ‘..Gather your resources now, to sustain you.. change is in the air.

Her erratic behaviour has bested many hunters and she counsels that you gather skills that are universal, transferable, fundamental – the simple tools like, cooking and growing vegetables, sewing and weaving, easily overlooked in a metropolitan world.

You must also learn how to gather and store your energy for times of need, too. Squirrel says : you must love yourself enough to gather the goods that will meet your needs, and to let go of the ‘things’ that are superficial, which will not sustain you over time. Observe that squirrel always knows of a safe place to store their treasures. This safe place is an untroubled heart and mind, so that which is gathered, can be put into wisdom and caring.

Squirrel…
You have gathered
Nots by the score,
Exactly predicting
If you’ll need more.

Teach me to take
No more than I need.
Trusting Great Mystery
To harvest the seed.

By Jamie Sams and David Carson.

Are you a hoarder : a fearful person who expects the worst and is stuck in waiting?

Generally Squirrel says : ‘..it is time to discard old thought patterns, outmoded worries, imagined pressures, unrealistic stresses, or gadgets that have been broken for years.’ Unencumbered and adaptable like squirrel, you may run with the seasons of the future, enjoying what is here today, and circulating the stocks of what you have gathered to those in need.

If Squirrel is Hanging Upside Down on Your Branch – check that you haven’t begun seeing the world through opposites, hoarding your thoughts of abundance so that fear of scarcity (poverty consciousness) takes firm hold. This will lead to miserliness.

Tiger – Symbol of royalty, dignity and power, Tiger pounces into your life to announce that Passion and Adventure will beckon you soon. Beware that Tiger has the power of the creator and the destroyer within her own controlled sensuous nature.

She stalks through the magic of the night and swims through sunny lakes with equal adaptability, and as a messenger, brings you fresh adventures to change your path, new passions to awaken your heart.

Through her appearance she endows you with her powers and counsels that you take what she offers and transform your life! If used wisely now, her powers will bring great comfort and luxury to your near future.

Caution : Use her powers wisely.

Toad – Comes to connect you to everything you hold repulsive in life and make you look at it as a mirror of self loathing. You are asked to consider that implicit in that ugliness is the power of transformation and growth into something beautiful.

Tortoise – Are you making changes for the sake of making changes?

She meanders along, in no hurry, declaring that she is older than the Dinosaur, the embodiment of ancient wisdom and living proof haste makes waste, and that some things never change.

Is someone pushing you to become something you are not?

Tortoise counsels that you stay true to your way of living, your partner and your creativity, lest you destroy something more wonderful than you yet know or realise you have.

Tortoise also symbolises the need for mental protection from criticism by forming a mental ‘carapace,’ or hard shell like her. Like her hatchlings that emerge from their shells, perfect, you too were born flawless. She says that meditation and focus can help you to overcome your critics at this time.

Either way, it is time to resist change for novelty’s sake.

Turtle – According to ancient Asian traditions, as well as Meso-American legend, Turtle is the oldest symbol for Mother Earth and the personification of goddess energy. Turtle represents the eternal mother from whom all life evolves. Like the earth she has a shell to protect her and she counsels you that you too have shields that protect you from hurt, envy, jealousy and the unconsciousness of others.

Some of your shields may be damaged and it is time for you to check them and refortify them, by going inside yourself and honouring your feelings. Do not be bothered by the changes in the world around you at this time.

Turtle . . . great Mother,
Feed my spirit,
Clothe my heart.

That I may serve you too.

By Jamie Sams and David Carson.

Generally - Turtle is a fine teacher in the art of grounding, especially since you have developed your ‘space cadet’ tendencies. By seeing her swim into your dream-sea, Mother Earth is calling you to reconnect in any way possible … NOW!

Have you become flippant of your wastefulness, suffering loneliness, struggling financially? She is calling you now… reconnect with the power of the earth, reconnect, reconnect!

Have you been indoors too long?

The first step is to go outside into the quiet and stillness of nature.

The second step is to find some gratitude in your heart. Perhaps you could find a small pebble and remember to touch it and be grateful each day. Then look again at the abundance already around you, and draw from it.

Breathe deeply.

This is a post I have most certainly been waiting for Lilla it has SO much info from recurring dreams I have.

Ug...I had a dream I got a nasty bite from a spider the other night, it`s sting was long and needle-like and the wound immediately festered, the pain woke me. Constant Battles... I have felt this new little pot bubbling for a while and have been waiting for it to boil over....

I know that I have said it before but it never ceases to amaze me how powerful dreams are. And just to think before I never really looked at them as anything more than a mishmash of the days events.

thanks for the eye opener.

Ash,

Thank you for the lovely compliment, I’m sorry it took so long, but soooo many popular dream-creatures are found in ‘S’. .. I thought it would never end! *chuckle*

I get a great joy out of being able to help you through my efforts here on orble. I know understanding dreams has the power to transform lives, as it has my own, and am chuffed I can contribute in some small way to your understanding ...at least now, when that pot boils over, you’ll have been forewarned...sometimes that will lessen the hurt and severity of the wounds inflicted during the “combat” too, I think.

I wish you a speedy resolution.

Thanks for the heart warming feedback Ash, much appreciated.

Mis,

Thank you for appreciating that effort, although I must admit it is a bit selfish too. As I said, I’ve been wanting to put together all the pieces of my notes and text books, knowledge from journals; observations and experiences for ages. This orble blog was my “brainwave” for doing it… only thing is I never realised just how much hard work it would be… no harm done, now I can be like Sloth for a little while and just be… luckily there are not too many creatures beginning with V, W, X, Y and Z *lol*

‘S’ was murder *phew – wiping brow and laughing*

I am elated to know that you enjoy them so much. Thanks for the feedback.

Much warmth,

HI Lilla

This made me laugh as having difficulties with both, no wonder I dream of spiders so often! I thought it was just because I'm petrified of them....the spiders that is....OK and in all honesty both my mum and mother-in-law at times....hmmmm.....

It's so true....gosh....and exhausting too....thanks for the insight...

I also have shark dreams and didn't know this:

To be bitten (or eaten) by a shark – signals that you have jealous enemies working against you and you must identify them, for they are subtle and undermining your power and authority.

Phew....there's a lot happening in my dreams....

Do you know if dreams are linked, ie if I have a shark and spider dream in the same night is their message combined?

Thanks, Lilla. Fascinating and helpful info (as usual),

Tracy

Kleo,

I'm sorry to hear of your loss... I am so far behind on reading your posts... *hanging head* but the next two days are looking great for catching up with virtual friends...

Dreams tend to stop during grief...give yourself some time to grieve... things'll pick up again soon... loosing a "friend" is no easy task for any of us...

Sympathies and hugs.

Hello Tracy,

Wonderful to know I’m helping you gain insight and hopefully overcome these issues. Thank you so much for the feedback.

I would venture a ‘Yes’ to your question Tracy. If, for example, you are bitten by a spider and run staggering to the shore, stumbling into the water – only to be half eaten by a shark – I would say that the enemy is your mother or mother-in-law, as the case may be… and Yes again, if the spider and shark seem to be in separate dreams, but on the same night.

I would venture that the subtle wordplay, or power games are slowly undermining your efforts to create the life that you want to lead, and that they are draining away your power, self-confidence and self-esteem?

I have noticed in families that your mother’s neighbour, or your sister-in-law can be “on the payroll” in winning you over too. Anyone that is friendly with either ‘spider,’ becomes a dream-shark too.

A classic example of this, was the time my mother-in-law tried to get my brother-in-law to persuade us into something, in her ridiculous efforts to disengage me from her son. We took the advice from him on face value, on the benefit of the doubt - which of course was a mistake - creating a really unhappy environment for us and unnecessary suffering for all of my immediate family.

All I can add here, is that 'even evil works for good’ if you can hang on long enough *chuckle* because of course, the universe and Angels stepped in and re-routed opportunity for us, but things took a long time to equalise. The end result was that we were forced to break contact with my husband’s entire family, about four years ago, to avoid illness.

Not all “family” is as unscrupulous, malicious and vindictive as both of mine, though… just the luck of the draw I guess *lol* but for some reason, some mother’s do go about the place thinking that their children are no more than property or chattels that they own… this is not the truth of life and sometimes the only way to have a life is to break free if this toxic thinking, completely.

For clues on how to navigate such treacherous “creatures,” I would suggest you look towards the prominent colours and numbers around in these dreams. What are you wearing? What is the sky or sea doing, is it day or night… and most of all, look at the modes of transport you are using to get to where you confront these creatures…anything that can give a clue as to your next move, and PM me for details.

I wish you much patience in your own endeavours in this area, Tracy. It is not an easy path to have to trudge and you have my sympathies, completely.

Warm hugs,

Lilla …

Hello Lilla

I'm so sorry I didn't reply to your answer, I saved the info and kept it, but forgot to say thank-you, what a terrible blogger I am (I'm hanging my head in shame).

This has been a huge help and I think this is the next step:

What is the sky or sea doing, is it day or night… and most of all, look at the modes of transport you are using to get to where you confront these creatures…..

I’m having dreams where the spiders grow rapidly and then climb all over me and I’m screaming like anything (I have a massive fear of them in real life). They’re awfully distressing. I think what you’ve suggested is really helpful, now what I need to do is be more alert..

Thanks again for your help and kindness,

Tracy

HI Tracy,

Thank you so much for the feedback.

You sound like you are well on your way to discovering many cures and much peace... Spiders are really good in dreams and I hope you don;t end up killing any.

This is a massive symbol for you in both states (waking and sleeping) and may well relate to a situation suffered whilst you were in the womb?

I don;t know, but I'm sure you'll get to the bottom of it as you plough through the finer details surrounding the central premise and these (hairy) characters.

It seems that details are important no matter which side of the line we are on at the time... awake or asleep - or indeed - somewhere in between 'gathering wool' (as my grandmother called it) ... more commonly day dreaming.

Good luck on your quest my friend,

Lilla ...

Hello Lilla

Thanks again for all your insight and information. It’s comforting knowing that the spiders are a good sign and nothing to be scared of. I’m working on trying to remember details around them as you suggested, that is a fantastic idea. Unfortunately, I can't remember any dreams from last night which is a pity as I was all prepared!

I wonder how they could related to something in the womb, that’s an interesting thought...I’m pondering away here....

Thank-you for all your help and kindness, it’s always appreciated,

Tracy
