Animals In Dreams - P-R

Panda – Panda lumbers into your dreams to remind you of the esteem and tranquillity that can be found in solitude. She will usually roll about the place to remind you of how self-contained and content she is in her serried banks of bamboo. She relaxes in a world of plenty and ease, dependent on none and does not need the approval of anyone.
She now counsels you to reconnect with nature and do the same thing. She says : '..remember the simple things in life and how to take pleasure in them every day.'
Panda counsels that you need time away from your daily life both mentally and physically, to fortify your spirit and allow your true self, not someone else’s, to emerge and flourish.
Panther (black) – Sensuality and Passion stir beneath a cloak of secrecy… A time has come to embrace the unknown. A time to hide your intentions, until the time for action has come, or risk losing advantage - be it in love, or business.
But Panther also counsels you not to worry about the future unduly. You should trust that you are not supposed to mentally “figure it out” at this time. You need to confront fears of the unknown, of being less than you truly are, or an inability to simply Be. Let go of the fears that appear as obstacles and barriers.
Black Panther says : ‘.. time to embrace the unknown and flow with the mystery that is about to unfold in your life.'
Black Panther may well have come to ask you to accept and reclaim your intrinsic sexuality, if new romance is close by and the time has come to reawaken passion and embrace life, fully.
Pig - (tame, domestic) – Dreams of pigs come in on two levels, one being that prosperity seems to follow them; the other that by changing our attitudes and personality traits of ignorance, stupidity, selfishness and gluttony, we can bring prosperity to ourselves more easily.
But pigs are also intelligent too, so he sometimes snorts to us, 'beware you don’t become guilty of exercising his more unattractive traits.' Pig says : 'without such recognition, there can be no transformation or mastery of them.'
Pigs and Jewels – A dream to warn you of a difference between your spiritual self and your lower urges. Is there a war raging within you, over some matter?
Pigletts – large litters - Often a sign of fruitfulness and great prosperity. Success in your affairs can be swift to follow a large littler of piglets in your dreams.
Wild Pig or Boar – A totem animal to the MesoAmerican culture .. for those who told lies and broke the laws of the spiritual warrior, would have to face the Wild boar with his bare hands and a knife.
Legend recalls that the spirit of the wild boar came to the liar in a dream, telling him to conquer the self-important and deceitful beast within himself, first, if he hoped to survive their physical combat in the waking world.
Sage advice and if the boar charges into your dreams, you are being asked to confront anything, or anybody, that you have been avoiding with these traits. Boar says : '.. now, more than ever, no matter what tradition, or others expect of you, only to yourself be true.'
If you allow society or individuals to dictate the part you play in life, constant friction between outer persona and inner desires will cause you deep unhappiness and, with time, resentment and self deceit.
Time to look and see if your role in a certain relationship is a sham?
Prairie Dog (Marmot tribes) – She stands up to catch your attention because it is time to retreat and rest. Check your tank : is your body’s fuel gauge running low? Have you been burning the candle at both ends?
If one of these little fellows has waddled into your landscape or dreamscape, you need a day of silence, away from regular activities, before you become too exhausted to carry on.
Have you put your own basic needs at the bottom of your ‘To Do” list?
If you have been battling a situation without gaining ground, Prairie Dog gently reminds you that : '.. pushing too hard can create a resistance that does not allow for interaction.'
Take a break!
Porcupine – Much like otter, porcupine is playful and gentle. Her quills are only used when trust has been broken between herself and another creature.
To the Meso Americans, the power of trust in life, involves trusting that the Great Spirit has a divine plan in mind for us all and that we needn’t concern ourselves needlessly with what it is. Thus when Porcupine waddles into your dreamscape she says : '..it’s time to trust in the world.'.
It is time to find your pathway using the skills you have been given to open doorways to the creation of space … your new space.
Like Porcupine you must learn to share your bounty with others, be it material or emotional, and discover that it returns to you tenfold. Have you been hoarding your emotions lately?
Trust in others, whilst not hesitating in defence, to garner the respect that Porcupine commands and the happiness she knows you deserve.
Prehistoric Animals – General – A Trauma from the past, or childhood, is lurking about and popping up to be dealt with. It’s the post-trauma emotions of this event that may be causing you the problems in the waking world at this time. Look closely to where your mind might be closed minded to new ideas and or situations, as a result.
Rabbit –in Dreams can say one of two things. The obvious is Fertility. The other is Fears. If it is the latter, then the keynote here is : what you resist will persist! What you fear most is what you will become.
This bunny has hoped into your dreams to tell you to stop talking about horrible things happening and get rid of 'what if' from your vocabulary.
A white rabbit – is a special messenger and can show you the way to the inner spiritual world and as such, act as a guide. Follow the white rabbit and see where it leads you . . .
Raccoon – Known as the ‘little bandit’ by the southern tribes of Native Americans, the racoon is the Robin Hood of the animal kingdom and protects the underdogs, the young; the infirm and elderly.
When Racoon wanders into your dreamscape, he is asking you to contact your inner warrior, to become a protector and generous provider for those in need. Especially for yourself . . .
If Racoon has scampered into your dream, he is asking you to look around and see who needs your strength right now. You must find the voice to speak up in defense of another instead of remaining silent when others are gossiping. It is time to share the bounty of your time, energy and possessions with the less fortunate... time to honour yourself and others equally.
Rat – The rat in a dream is a symbol of deterioration in a situation. Seen as vermin, rat says : it’s time to look at the dis-eased and devious part of the situation, or your part in it.
If you are bitten by the rat, beware a devious friend or colleague. Ever alert, Rat is warning you to acquire some “street smarts” of your own to avoid a bad situation getting worse?
He says : 'you may need to think like a rat, to catch one.'
Reptiles – General – To dream of reptiles is to take a look at the lower aspects of your personality. Often a time to beware of malicious gossip. Sometimes we have no control yet over our lower desires and reptiles often appear to highlight the areas we need to work on – or is being affected in a certain situation. Often the situation is created, so that we can overcome the desire that is trapping us.
Do you have control over the dream-reptile, or do you risk being devoured?
Reptiles of all descriptions, slither to warn you that you are still afraid of death [or the death process] and need to work on reconciling with it as a means of change, in order to be reborn.
(See individual reptiles for more details)
Rhinoceros – Ancient behemoth, repository of primordial wisdoms, Rhino says : '..still the chatter within to see your true path in life.'
Rhinoceros wisdom says : You are a human Being, not a human Doing. Take time now to simply Be. He says : You must learn to meditate. If you do, with Rhino by your side you can turn your dreams into realities.

So powerful a totem in our human world, that if you see an animal unexpectedly in the waking side of life, you may take it as a sign from the great spirit, as well. Especailly if you see the same animal more than once...
As always, if you have a dream, daydream or animal visitor that is still confusing, post it below : I am always happy to help you decipher it...

Ripping apart the denials

Testing courage, finding truth,
Its medicine will remain,
A part of every human path,
Marking the victories we attain.

Gee it's great to have your energy back... and thank you for the compliment.
Don't forget that these can apply to daydreams, or waking appearances also. For example, I saw dragonflies all over the place a couple of days ago.. sure enough the message was very apt.
Even if you keep seeing a particular animal around your neighbourhood, take note.. the Great Spirit may be trying to communicate with you...
However, when you do dream of one now, you'll be on it, like ... 'stink on a warthog?" *lol*
Sweet Dreams.

I wonder if CS Lewis was a student of Dream Interpretations? His white rabbit character from Through the Looking Glass was indeed a messenger (or maybe it was due to Mr. Lewis' well known love of opiates!)
Interesting post as usual!

..yes, an interesting observation and one I also had. opticals and opiates aside... the truth is the truth, within the truth of simplicity itself, is it not? So, perhaps it took one to lookthrough the mirror of an opiate to see the optical inference, therein, reflected back as the self evident truth within itself?
A bit like dreaming itself ...
Hahahha... I love our conversations, and thank you for your lovely compliment.

*lol* ..thanks for your lovely compliment. I'm glad you're enjoying them and hope they are of use over the coming months.
I have a great love of animals, and pulling my notes together from the four corners of the globe to create these Animal posts, has become a really interesting and enjoyable experience for me personally. I hadn't realised that I had collected so much information on them over the years... much of it MesoAmerican Animal Totem Magic, as well as European folklore... all really interesting stuff.
Sweet Dreams.

As always I love your dream posts.
I was just wondering (and didn`t quite know where to ask it) what contradictory symbols in dreams mean?
thanks

it is hard to answer your question without specific symbols to compare?
Sometimes contradictory symbols represent your conflicting views on a situation in the waking world... I woudl really need more detail to say for sure.
