Dream Herald - by Lilla

In his work entitled *Sacred clowns* Tony Hillerman writes ~ *.... This business of hozho. The way I understand it ... I’ll use an example. Terrible drought, crops dead, sheep dying. Spring dried out. No water. The Hopi, or the Christian, maybe the Moslem, they pray for rain. The Navajo has the proper ceremony done to restore himself to harmony with the drought. You see what I mean. The system is designed to recognize what’s beyond human power to change, and then to change the human’s attitude to be content with the inevitable.* : The truth is, Dreams Help Us Adjust in exactly the same way . . .

Animals In Dreams : M - O

April 20th 2007 09:33
Mare – See Horse.

Mole – surfaces in your dreams to remind you of the powers of darkness and fear. Mole also often signifies the blind persistence and determination which enables us to succeed against insurmountable odds.

Mollusk – Mysterious happenings from ‘deep’ places of emotional cleansing resonate around you now, and will claim your attention. Check carefully all that you hear to make sure it is echoing from ‘within’ you.

Monkey – There are many types of monkey, but any type appearing as a symbol in your dreams (both sleeping and daydreaming) often indicates a time to deal with the infantile, childish and arrested side of our character.

The qualities of mischief, impudence and inquisitiveness all belong to the monkey, and whilst they may be childish they may also come into your dreams to remind you of the balance of maintaining a lively curiosity as a necessary means for a lightness of spirit.

Moose – Is a creature of wisdom from the north of the native American medicine wheel. Moose is the symbol of self-esteem and often lopes into your dream forest to advise the power of recognising that wisdom has been used in a situation and you should recognise this and pat yourself on the back. Self reliance and seasoned patience in adversity means that obstacles will be overcome.

In meso-American culture it is believed that Moose people have the ability to know when to be as gentle as a deer or initiate the stampede of the buffalo. Seeing Moose is a forerunner that you will have reason to feel good about something you will accomplish on your journey through self-reliance. Moose says : ‘Well done!’

Moose …

Help me to know the gifts I can give,
…And recognise my worthiness long as I live.

By Jamie Sams and David Carson.

Remember too, that self-reliant, secure Moose has no need to rush into love and thereby court failure either. She counsels that you, too, let love come in its own time and so create a relationship of trust, profundity, and true meaning.

Mosquito – It is believed in some south American cultures that if you kill a Mosquito in your dreams, you will eventually overcome obstacles and enjoy fortune and domestic bliss.

To be attacked by a mosquito is often a precursor of misfortunes through secret enemies who will attack and undermine your efforts to progress in your life goals.

Guard your words carefully and keep your plans close to your chest if there are many mosquitoes.

(Check Numbers in Dreams for more details of the area that will most likely need guarding).

Mountain Lion – You must take charge where others cannot. Mountain Lion pads softly into your dreams to help you into new roles of leadership. It is certainly a time to stand on your convictions and lead yourself where your heart takes you. Other’s may chose to follow, and the lessons will multiply.

Mountain Lion . . .
Oh kingly leader,
Of sleek, feline form,

Touch my heart with courage,
Then sound the alarm,

That I may lead with foresight,
Assurance bright and true,
To carry on the spirit,
Of the strength I see in you.

By Jamie Sams and David Carson.

If Mountain Lion pounces into your dreams, roaring she asks you to review the purpose behond your personal beliefs. You may need to discover whether or not your plans include a pride of cubs wanting to be like you, or not to share your dreams.

If you are already a leader in some form, the question is whether or not the time has come to push the ‘cubs’ out of the cave or not?

Mouse/Mice – With many enemies Mouse must scrutinise and look beyond the obvious to the pattern within and assess the hidden agenda. If business and domestic bliss are far from reach, she says; take a closer look at things… “I will touch everything with my whiskers to know it.”

Fixated with methodology, mice may seem like they are hoarding things away, but they are just putting everything in order to explore at a later date. Mouse ended Renaissance man and harkened the age of specialisation. Mouse knows that there is ‘always more to learn.’ One can always delve deeper and deeper and deeper … look particularly to areas where your timidity may need addressing.

Mouse …

If I could see the world,
Through your tiny eyes,
Maybe then I would know,
How to scrutinise.

Every detail carries weight,
And true to its purpose,
Has its perfect puzzle place,
To stop the “three-ring circus!”

By Jamie Sams and David Carson

When mouse is staring you in the face it is time to develop a largesse of spirit. Try to become aware of the Great Dance of life. Look at yourself and others carefully… maybe that big hunk of cheese is sitting on a spring trap that will spring a deadly trap. Be persistent and incisive and all obstacles will be overcome.

Octopus - Creatures that are unusual and not familiar to us, appear in our dreams to alert us to certain qualities within ourselves that need attention. The octopus is capable of moving in any direction and it is this symbolism we need to be aware of.

Are you are feeling shackled lately by your circumstances?

Octopus often comes to tell you that travel across the earth and over the sea now will help you securely embrace your dreams. Octopus does not wait for fate to deliver her dinner of crab! She uses whatever strategy is necessary for his capture – even abandoning water for earth’s air. If your partner has left for a far away land, join them.

If a new exciting possibility calls from distant climes, embrace it.

Because of his eight legs, this symbol picks up on the symbolism of the Mandala – of psychological wholeness needed before undertaking great ventures.

Octopus tentacles – overpowering you and pulling you into something frightening which you can’t escape? Beware of being lured into buying something you don't need ... Whilst you are often loved for your sweetness of disposition, this can make you a pushover for unscrupulous salespeople, or those with hidden agenda's.

Opposum – Her greatest form of protection is to play dead. She does this to confuse her hunter into thinking that the game is over. When she is playing dead in your dreams, you are being warned that some strategy and diversion will need to be used in a current situation.

Opposum says; ‘rely upon your instincts for the best way out of a tight corner.’ If you have to pretend to be apathetic of unafraid, do it!

Oppossum . . .
Roll Over!
Are you really dead?

Of just playing Possum?
Was it something I said?

By Jamie Sams and David Carson.

Orang-Utan – Someone is using your hard earned influence to further their own selfish schemes. Are you working to live joyously, or living to work?

Orang-utan is in no hurry to leave his soft arboreal bed at dawn and counsels that you may need to organise a sleep in yourself. He understands the true value of time and suggests that you re-evaluate if you are using yours wisely?

He says : ‘Adjust your priorities lest time slips silently away, taking pleasure with it.’

Otter – Like the otter you must find a way to live within your means, taking what you need from what you have around you. Otter frolics into a dreamers river to remind the Native north American of ‘Woman’s Medicine.’ For to them, both men and women, otters are a symbol of curiosity, always on the move, never initiating fights, unless attacked first, they are joyous and adventurous she counsels that positive female energy is not jealous or catty.

Otter . . .
So playful!
Coquettes by the stream.

The medicine of woman,
The Realised Dream.

By Jamie Sams and David Carson.

Otter can often come into your dreams as the advent of a fresh new love without jealousy. Either way, Otter is asking you to become the playful child and to simply allow things to unfold in your life.

It may well be time to stop your addiction to worrying and to stop hanging onto material things that may blind you or become a great burden.

Otter always playfully announces too, that an absent friend will soon return.

Oysters – As a known aphrodisiac, oysters in dreams will relate to sexual dreams if that is where the dream progresses. (Check Sex in Dreams Post for more details).

Otherwise, to dream of an oyster can be to be acknowledging a spiritual transformation that is currently taking place. A time when you need courage to succeed in life. But remember the oyster is unique in being able to turn a grain of sand into a magnificent pearl.

Now is a good time to develop a harder shell to protect your inner tenderness, whilst you too transform something which seems to be an irritant, into something beautiful.

***
So powerful a totem in our human world, that if you see an animal unexpectedly in the waking side of life, you may take it as a sign from the great spirit, as well. Especailly if you see the same animal more than once...

As always, if you have a dream, daydream or animal visitor that is still confusing, post it below : I am always happy to help you decipher it...

Hi Nick,

Thank you for the comment, I am honoured. I have so much love for the animal kingdom around us and the creatures within it, that it's as if they speak to me, truly.

As to your animal 'signs?' hmmmm... of course I'm thinking ... something Chinese to start with, from the magnificent 12. . . And because I know your age from your profile.. that makes you a Dog or Rooster?

I'll have to reserve my decision on a personal animal totem for you, until I get to know you a little better... just in case I make an ass out of myself! *lol* ... although to start with : I feel you have Bear medicine about you... but there is something else too...

... I will get back to you on it...

Hi John D,

...delighted to have been able to offer a new perspective and I truly thank you for the feedback.

For me, the day before yesterday was a day of dragonflys.. everywhere.

... it is more fun when there's understanding.

Sweet Dreams,

Tammy,

I hope these offer additional insight and thanks again for the lovely compliment.

These animals can be taken as signs int he real world too. For example I had dragonflies all around day before yesterday. That doesn't happen every day.

If you suddenly see something rare, or unsual for you, like a black dog, brown horse, or picture of a fox - reoccuring or just 'jumps' at you... or perhaps a daydream where a little furry critter leaps in?

These meanings can be taken as literal for all of them... I have discovered very little difference between the levels of consciousness (even super consciousness - in meditation) when animals appear... they carry the same message in either reality.

Very interesting and stimulating discovery, that.
