Animals In Dreams : C - E

Camel – Usually a symbol of hardship and obstacles, but not without great rewards of financial gain. Sometimes a Camel will come to tell of an inheritance, but will come to let you know that endurance will be required to overcome obstacles.
Cat – Always represents the feminine. The sensuous side in human beings, usually in women. Goddesses such as Bast the Egyptian Cat Goddess are usually represented as having two sides to their natures, one devious and one helpful, so the cat often denotes the capricious side of the feminine.
If a cat attacks and you manage to fight it off, it suggests you will overcome being a slave to either your own sexuality, or enemies. To be successful in such a battle with a cat, is said to mean you will overcome great obstacles and rise in fortune and fame.
The elegant but also the powerful, yet overly self sufficient aspect of woman, is also seen in dreams as a cat, and may be a warning sometimes to rely on others a bit more.
Kittens - often refer to the awakening of an aspect of the feminine self, as yet un-developed.
It often translates in the waking world as new ideas and projects.
Chameleon – At one with the world, you are beginning to recognise your own (or another’s) ability to adapt and to change according to surrounding circumstances. Spiritually Chameleon can also be the harbinger of new awareness of subtle energies around you and your need to pay attention to them. Chameleon counsels that you conceal ambition with patience, until it is time to make your move, and then like striking a fly with your tongue, lash out.
Cheetah – Time for a decision to be made, which must be followed by unwavering action. Cat wisdom with the power of sight-hound magic. What other creature partakes of two natures? It is not a time for hesitation when Cheetah darts through your dreamscape. You must grab what life is offering.
Clams – Are you being obstinate, or is it someone you know?
Cobra – Cobra slithers in, to warn you to take care of your fundamental needs as transformation is taking place. Your diet may be lacking in whole foods and you must spend some time in nature. Look carefully at the meaning of desire before letting its deep sexual energy free, as only mutual love can transform. Fear not for the future, says Cobra, for I bring news of change and rebirth now inevitable for your renewed vitality.
Cow – The eternal feminine, a cow is another guise for mother, but unlike the Bear, a positive one of nurturing. If the cow appears in a negative light, then she comes as a portend of your need for nourishment. This is a positive dream symbol, which promises prosperity as a result of productivity. Remember to care for yourself.
Crab – The crab will scuttle into your dreams when you need to be more expressive. It is time to show your emotions more in order to regenerate love. Her whole being is synchronised to the waxing and waning of the moon and she bears the message that you tune into the cycles of your own body too. Sometimes, like crab, when she is shedding her hard armour, it is wise to become vulnerable, as it offers regeneration and emotional flowing.
Deer – To see a Deer in your dreams signifies that you have discovered (or are about to discover) your place in the world. Everything related to seeing a Deer, is favourable in love, business and friendships. A gentle creature, Deer also counsels that you take note of the messages in whispers and the secrets adrift on the breeze. A snippet of conversation in the days to come, the fresh spice of cologne, may hold secrets untold.
Deer … so gentle
And loving you are.
The flower of kindness,
An embrace from afar.
- Jamie Sands & David Carson.
If estranged from family and friends, Deer advises that the sagacious ask for forgiveness and forgive in return as it is time to foster mutual love and recognition that it brings.
Dog – Instantly recognisable as a faithful and constant companion, a protector or more negatively, somebody the dreamer can’t shake off and who might make trouble?
A Dog you owned or know – there may be memories associated with that period of your life and often a revisitation from the animal, sets the trigger for that period to resurface, in the safety of present day conditions.
Barking Dogs – is a bad sign and usually brings news of a depressing nature, with difficulties likely to follow.
If the Dog Fondles You – indicates great gain is likely in your life and you will make new friends soon that will last for a long time.
Dolphin – Dolphin has adapted more elegantly to her world than any other creature. She embodies patience and shows that with time and slow determination you can now create wonders, move mountains and become the person your heart desires, but it will require effort. Dolphin can sometimes come to warn of breathing difficulties too. Try some Yoga or Tai Chi, it is time to tune into the rhythm of your breath to find stillness and patience.
Dophin . . .
Breathe with me,
Breath of the Divine,
Manna of the Universe,
In Oneness we entwine…
-Jamie Sams & David Carson
Dragonfly – Flies through the dreamtime to remind and dispel us of the illusionary façade we accept as physical reality. The iridescence of Dragonfly’s wings reminds us of colours not found in our everyday experience. It is said in MesoAmerican medicine that the breath of the Dragonfly bought forth the art of magic and the illusion of changing form.
-Jamie Sams and David Carson
If Dragonfly has flown into your dreams, or flitted through your waking world, you may have forgotten to water the plants. On another level, you may need to give thanks to the foods you eat for sustaining your body and connect with the basics. On the psychological level, Dragonfly is saying it is time to break down the illusions you have held that restrict your actions and ideas from realising your dreams.
Eel – To dream of an eel is a very good sign, if you manage to keep a grip on it in the dream, otherwise it warns that current fortunes may be fleeting.
Elephant – To see an elephant in a dream is to recognise the qualities of patience, wisdom, memory, power, strength and fidelity. If Elephant has stomped into your dreams he is a sign of esoteric radiance and wisdom is now yours.

This is very interesting....am forwarding this and the previous one to friends....
Um...okay...I don't really remember my dreams...not even my laughing ones (so pleasurable...) but I do remember this...
...I dreamt of haathis....twice this year...
(sorry to be lingua cryptic again LL...I will PM you if you can't remember what that is...I just didn't feel like being 'open' about it because well....it feels odd to acknowledge something like that in a public arena... well, for myself anyway...)
hope you are well pyaari...

I'm also suffering from the brain-lurgy going around and cannot think of what this animal could be, you can PM it to me if you'd like, as it is unlikely I shall guess it.
I am honoured that you are passing it on, thank you. Although it's not very popular with other orblers, I am enjoying writing it and never realised how much I love this subject - nor how many bloomin' animals there are!
Cara Mea.. loads of them, and all so special... and that's not counting the birds... I know, I wrote a whole book on birds last year... *lol*
So, my thoughts are, that it may take quite a while to get to Z... probably a good idea to keep me out of mischief...
..thanks again and I'm chuffed that it's useful for those interested, it has made it all worthwhile.
See you again in 'F' (no sub-text intended)...*lol*
